ashley + paul wedding | utah wedding photographer

Ashley and Paul are two of the radest people I know! I had so much fun getting to know them and I am honored that they chose me to photograph their special day. After their engagement session I took them to my favorite sushi restaurant in SLC for dinner and enjoyed hearing the stories of how they met and how Paul proposed. I am so happy for them, they are perfect for each other.

Big thanks to Andrea Hanks for shooting with me.

ashley’s bridal portraits | utah wedding photography

A few weeks ago I met my awesome client Ashley at the salt flats for her bridal session. Even in the middle of a nasty wind storm she still looked amazing! You can see from the images below how much salt was in the air. When I got home, my gear and I were covered in salt.

Here are just a few of the images from Ashley’s session.

chantal and jared wedding shoot | utah wedding photographer

Every year thousands of wedding photographers and portrait photographers converge on Las Vegas for the annual WPPI conference and trade show. With the exception of the stale cigarette smoke that lingers for days after you return and the intense burning in my eyes from being hot boxed inside of the casino as I walked to the conference area, I love attending this conference. I am so fortunate to be a part of the photographic community and to be surrounded by amazingly talented people from all around the world. As a community we share ideas, learn from and mentor one another, and help each other out when needed. I have to say that today’s photographic community is vastly different from when I started Innovative Photography 8 years ago and for that I am thankful!

This was the second year I was involved in producing a shoot for other photographers that were visiting the conference. We learned a lot from our shoot last year and applied that knowledge to this years shoot. I am happy to announce that this year our shoot raised nearly $4,000 for charity. I would like to thank my friend Laura Marchbanks who was the head producer of this year’s shoot. I would also like to thank all of the photographers and couples who participated as well as my new friends Sarah and Thomas at the Las Vegas Country Club for hosting this shoot and donating their time and resources! If you are getting married in Vegas you should plan it at the country club.

Venue: Las Vegas Country Club
Makeup : Megan Mulligan
Gown: Couture Bride
Flowers: Thomas Meyer Florals

Here are some wedding images that I captured. This is Chantal in her very BEAUTIFUL Vera Wang gown.

I LOVE this next image! Chantal and Jared were great, it was cold and rainy and they didn’t complain once. These two are definitely in LOVE!

WPPI Wedding Photoshoot For Charity | Utah Wedding Photographer

Every year WPPI hosts a convention/trade show in Las Vegas. This convention attracts over 11,000 wedding and portrait photographers from around the world for loads of fun and lots of learning. For the past couple of years I have organized photo shoots for photographers to participate in. This year I am super excited to announce that I am organizing or helping to organize a number of shoots.

The first shoot to be announced is exciting for many reasons but for starters ALL of the profits are going to be donated to The Portrait House. Other reasons include but are not limited to… a super cool location, 5 shooting areas, multiple models…

If you are interested in participating in this shoot you’d better act fast because space is limited and I’m sure it’s going to sell out quick!

You can find the details on Laura’s site.

Chris + Nikki = smokin hot!! | utah wedding photographer

Nikki and Chris are good friends of ours and I was honored when they asked me to photograph their wedding! I have known Nikki since high school and Chris did an AWESOME job playing the bagpipes at my father’s funeral this past December. If you are a perspective bride or groom and you want to do something different at your wedding check out Chris’s web site. They are getting married in Hawaii this next week and they are going to have a ceremony here when they get back.

I was so glad that these two were up for the challenge! I talk to all of my brides and grooms about shooting before the wedding. A lot of couples are still stuck on the tradition of the groom not seeing the bride before the wedding but a growing trend is underway where more and more couples are willing and eager to shoot before the wedding day. This willingness usually results in less stress on the actual wedding day which means happy couples in the photos which translates into much better images!

Anyway… back to Chris and Nikki. The look on their faces when we pulled up to this old run down building in the bad part of town was priceless! I can only imagine what was going through their heads when we were driving to the location. I love it when my clients give me their full trust! They were good sports, the sun was out but the wind was horrific and Nikki was freezing. We ended up shooting the second half of the session at Chris’s mothers house.

Here is a taste of how their session went!

Here is a shot of Chris trying to hold the diffuser in the howling wind… you did a great job Chris!
